Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR) – is a monetary policy instrument of the RBI. The commercial banks have to keep a certain proportion of the demand and time deposits as liquid assets in their vault. This is called statutory liquidity ratio. Liquid assets in the form of cash, gold and approved securities (government securities). SLR shall not be less than 25%.
