Functions of the finance commissions – The finance commission has to make recommendation to the president about the transfer of the central government’s tax resources to the states as well as the criteria regarding its allocation among the states. Besides, the commission also has to make recommendation about grants in aid transfer to the states and any other matter which is especially devoted to it. Dr Vijfay Kelkar has been appointed as the chairman of the thirteenth finance commission.
